Spika, nasimama kwa mujibu wa Kanuni za Kudumu Kipengele 53(1) kuomba Taarifa kutoka kwa Kamati ya Ardhi, Mazingira na Mali Asili kuhusu uharibifu na uchafuzi wa mazingira kutokana na uchimbaji wa madini ya chuma katika eneo la Jaribuni, Kauma, Kaunti ya Kilifi. Katika Taarifa hiyo, Kamati hiyo inafaa kuangazia yafuatayo- (1) Kuchunguza uharibifu wa uchafuzi wa mazingira na athari za afya zinazotokana na uchimbaji wa madini ya chuma katika eneo la Jaribuni, Kauma, unaotekelezwa na Kampuni ya China inayoitwa Wu Ying. (2) Ieleze hatua gani Wizara ya Madini na Uchumi Samawati na Mamlaka ya Kitaifa ya Usimamizi wa Mazingira (NEMA) zimechukua kuhakikisha usimamizi wa matumizi sahihi katika uchimbaji wa madini eneo hilo la Jaribuni, Kauma, kwa lengo la kuboresha maisha na mazingira ya wakazi wanaoishi sehemu hizo. (3) Kubainisha wazi hatua ambazo kampuni ya China inayoitwa Wu Ying, chini ya wajibu wake wa kijamii (Corporate Social Responsibility), imechukua katika jitihada za kupunguza athari mbaya zinazotokea katika uchimbaji wa madini ya chumba katika eneo hilo la Jaribuni. (4) Ipendekeze hatua zitakazochukuliwa kuzuia utegemeaji wa uchimbaji madini unaochangia pakubwa uharibifu wa mazingira na uchafuzi katika maeneo hayo."

"content": "Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.53(1), to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defense and Foreign Relations on the abduction, torture and execution of the Meru-based blogger, Daniel Benard Muthiani, alias Sniper, who disappeared from Meru County on 2nd December 2023, and whose mutilated body was found dumped in River Mutonga in Tharaka Nithi County on 16th December, 2023. In the Statement, the Committee should- The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate."

"content": "(1) Provide the status of the investigation into the abduction, torture, and execution of male blogger Daniel Benard Muthiani, alias sniper, stating any preliminary findings or insights that may have emerged. (2) Clarify the reasons behind the significant delay in concluding the investigation or the absence of public updates on his progress given the one widespread concern and the agency with which Bernard’s family seeks closure. (3) Outline the specific actions and measures the Government intends to implement to address and prevent the escalating incidents of harassment, intimidation and violence against journalists and political bloggers in Meru country."
