"content": "Baringo North, where he served the people from 1988 to 1997. He, therefore, cumulatively served more than 15 years in Parliament. He also served as an Assistant Minister in the late President Moi’s Government. This man was full of proverbs, wisdom, and jokes. He spoke in a language that one would think is annoying, yet he was actually creating fun. He was a great friend of the late second President of the Republic of Kenya. He is a man known for developing Baringo North in various aspects. Courtesy of Hon. Willy Kamuren, we got the first tarmac road that connects Kabarnet to Kabartonjo and Kipsaraman. That is the man that we have known for many years. He succeeded in employing many people, especially those of the Koimet generation, helping them become County Commissioners, District Officers, teachers and civil servants. Some of them are now retiring. This man set a firm foundation of leadership in Baringo North and served the people without any discrimination. Today, the locations in Baringo North are few compared to what he created. He created many administrative units, including sub-locations and locations"

"content": "Kipsaraman, Bartabwa, and Barwesa Divisions all exist courtesy of him. He was a strong Christian and helped build AIC Kabartonjo and AIC Milimani with the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi. They built AIC Milimani from a mabati building to what it is today. He also helped many people go to school. Most of us were young people during his time, and he lent us a helping hand. He is one of the few sons of Baringo North who owns a hotel in the Central Business District (CBD) of Nairobi. Most of those who came to Nairobi to start businesses did not own a single business in the CBD. He competed with those who arrived in Nairobi first. He owns the Grand Holiday Hotel on Accra Road in Ngara. It is good for you to know that. To sum it all up, this is a man who lived a full life. He was over 90 years old, and we thank God for the years he gave him. There will be a fundraising to support his funeral on Tuesday, 11th March 2025. The burial will be on Saturday, 15th March 2025, at his home in Ayiebo, Turkoin. Even Ayiebo High School, Moi High School Kabartonjo, Ossen High School and many other outstanding schools exist because of him. He set a firm educational foundation, which I have now taken over. For the record, it is important for this House to know that in the last Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), courtesy of the schools I have mentioned, Baringo North was able to send 1,803 students to the university, achieving a 62 per cent transition rate. We are 50 plus one in terms of education. We have pumped in a lot of resources and human capital. I wish Hon. Kamket was here because the late Hon. Kamuren served in his constituency. Oh, Hon. Kamket, you are seated behind me. Please also give him an opportunity to pay tribute because he served in his place. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Thank you."

"content": "told us and after meeting him, Hon. Kamuren was a very joyful man. He had a serious mastery of the Tugen and Pokot languages, which are quite similar, especially the Arror and the Pokot languages—the Arror is a sub-tribe of the Tugen. Hon. Kamuren was a very serious peacemaker. He always used his mastery of the languages to unite the Pokot and the Tugen communities. Back then, when the literacy level was low in Tiaty, the people of Baringo North were magnanimous enough to give us their son to serve as our first Member of Parliament. Folklore is full of stories about how my father became the chief campaigner for his opponent. My father played a big role in the ousting of Hon. Kamuren and the election of the second Member for Baringo East, the late Hon. Stephen Lomeri Cheptai. The people of Baringo East and Tiaty, for that matter, are forever grateful for the many years that Hon. Kamuren served them. I had occasion to meet him, and he was ageing gracefully. He was always present at the Members' Lounge. He was full of wisdom. He was a great friend of the late President Moi and eminent sons of Baringo at that time, including Mzee Philemon Chelagat and Mzee Bultut, who was the chairman of Baringo County Council. As sons and daughters of Baringo, we pride ourselves in having had such a wise man lead our county in various capacities. The peace and development we enjoy in that region are the fruits of the work of our forefathers. They laid very strong educational foundations. As Hon. Makilap said, Baringo North is Baringo County's education pillar. Tiaty is also catching up fast, and soon, we will overtake those ahead of us. We, the people of Tiaty, will forever be grateful for the services of Hon. Kamuren. We shall fully participate in his send-off as a constituency and a people. As Baringo people, we will remain united. We wish the family of Hon. Kamuren God’s grace during this time. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen."
