Our response as a Ministry is as follows- The origin of the KCC Limited dates back to 22nd August, 1925 when it was incorporated as a limited liability company. Later, on 8th February, 1932, it was registered as a co-operative society whereby it ran its operations until 1999 when it was then placed under receivership by the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), which was its debenture holder. In 2000, private individuals incorporated KCC (2000) Limited and acquired KCC business through bids invited by the receiver manager then, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). KCC was liquidated and, therefore, ceased to exist as a co-operative society nor a body corporate since it was sold off to KCC (2000) Limited, which was a private company."
