  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: (Muhoroni, ODM) Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this good speech that I had an opportunity to listen to. I take this opportunity to commend his Excellency for giving us a rational speech. It covered almost all the aspects of our life in this country. I want to compare it with his bold speech that he gave during Madaraka Day. He covered his tenure by articulating well how he started, the challenges he had and the achievements he has made. From his speech, it came out clearly that he has ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: He talked about agriculture. I want to dwell on this because it is dear to my heart. He mentioned the gains registered in the tea industry and other agricultural sectors. On the sugar industry, he talked about the consideration that he gave during Madaraka Day to the sugarcane farmers. I want to thank him for coming up with these incentives. I had an opportunity to visit him at State House when I escorted school girls to go and collect a bus that he gave out of his heart. Once more, I thank him. During that occasion, I had an opportunity ... view
  • 25 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. For obvious reasons, I think the House does not have the requisite quorum to proceed. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I am a Member of the Committee and I support my Chairman. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: No. I am loyally supporting my Chairperson because we deliberated everything in the Committee. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, as I stated before, I am a loyal Member of this Committee and everything we are discussing here, we discussed it in our Committee and passed them. So, I support the views presented by the Chair. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this very important Bill. From the outset, the forefathers of this country, those who fought for Independence and who meant very well for this country, made sure that they put in place arrangements that were going to enable the country to have proper industrialisation. They put gadgets that could safeguard any ills, make improvements and innovations and foster industrialisation. I can remember very well that the Kenya Industrial Estates was put in place to finance the little businessmen or industrialists who wanted ... view
  • 11 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the consideration. I have listened to both sides. I was touched by the Report given that the scenario is similar to what I have in my constituency. I have a sugar company that came into place some ten years ago and found schools for persons with disabilities and prisons operating. They have polluted the land so much and each time we complain, they say that they are offering employment. We are between a rock and a hard place. There is the offer of employment and then there is human life affected by the ... view
  • 11 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: I am not a member of the Committee and did not find time to look at the Report very well. What caught my interest is the conflict between the employment offer and the disruption of normal life. Otherwise, I support the Report. view
  • 21 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to comment on this labour issue. Although I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, I think the ultimate solution to this issue will be when the Ministry becomes serious to take up labour exports so that it is regulated from a respected Government Ministry. That is so that we can have tight records of people in terms of who are going, where they are going, what they are doing and whether they are making any progress. In the meantime, if they are left to some ... view
