  • 7 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. That is exactly the direction I wanted you to give from the seat that you sit. Thank you for your good wishes and those of the House. I am healing well. One of the reasons I am healing well is having facilities. So, when nurses are on strike, it does not matter what campaign we are doing, we must stop everything and get nurses back to work for other Kenyans. However, I want to say that the Member who is addressing this issue of Mumias should also declare his interest. This is because at ... view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I will try and keep it to the three minutes. We have discussed this issue long enough. We have not only discussed it in this 11th Parliament, but also in the 10th Parliament. Let us call a spade a spade and not a big spoon. We dealt with Mungiki . I do not think there was a militia bigger than Mungiki. Today, it does not exist. How did we deal with Mungiki ? We were summoned; anybody who was suggested to have been using the Mungiki, who spoke or greeted a member of the ... view

  • 14 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, before we conclude this matter, I would like to be on record that we have Members of Parliament who consistently sit here to see Bills through Committees of the whole House – the most important part of the law-making process in this country. It is important for Kenyans to know that there are Members who sit through the most complicated stage of the law-making process. The Chairs of Departmental Committees have to sit throughout a session as they move amendments on the Floor of the House. It is about time we recognised them for taking their time ... view

  • 24 Nov 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Gumbo, let me first clarify something with the Leader of the Majority Party. The Leader of the Majority Party, this Bill is yours. On the third last sentence under Clause 13 (1B) you say: “The school or faculty in the university shall elect three representatives of whom, at least, one must be of opposite gender from amongst persons who are not candidates under section 1A.” So, the Member is already implementing the constitutional provision when he talks about the election of the faculty members. view
