However, as a matter of fact, there is a pandemic inside the pandemic which is corruption. There is lack of accountability when it comes to expenditure related to COVID-19. When we set up this Committee, I was a very strong proponent of setting up this Committee as the Senate Majority Leader. The Committee’s responsibility during the COVID-19 pandemic was to ensure that we push this country to have a joint strategy. My thinking was that, it was not just going to be a Committee of the Senate but we were going to convince - if you look at my moving notes in the establishment of this Committee - the National Assembly to set up a similar Committee so that we have a joint Committee of both Houses."}
