The reason for the collapse has largely been attributed to poor corporate governance within the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) as a self regulatory organization. In order to address this problem and to improve investor confidence in the capital markets, I propose to amend the law to allow for the de-mutualization of the NSE. The planned de-mutualization will culminate with a listing of the stock exchange to allow members of the public to own a stake in the exchange."}
