In March 2009, a Government delegation led by the then Head of State, that included other leaders, listed Mulwanda, a small shopping centre along the Kenya – Uganda border in Funyula Constituency, Busia County. The Head of State instructed relevant authorities to open up Mulwanda as a border point to decongest the Busia and Malaba border points.
