Shiyonga","speaker_title":"","speaker":{"id":13181,"legal_name":"Masitsa Naomi Shiyonga","slug":"masitsa-naomi-shiyonga"},"content":"I rise, pursuant to Standing Order 48 (1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee of Land, Environment and Natural Resources on the rise of illegal hunting of bush meat, which poses a threat to Dik-dik and giraffes among other animals in the Tsavo National Park. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) provide detailed data from the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) on the current distribution of Dik-diks and giraffes among others in the said national park in comparison to the other years. I am happy that this Statement has come when KWS is carrying out a survey on the number of wild animals that we have. (2) explain and justify the reasons leading to the spark of illegal hunting for bush meat; (3) elucidate on the actions taken, if any, against the poachers;"}
