I rise pursuant to Standing Order 53(1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare concerning the on-boarding process of employees in the County Government of Marsabit. In the Statement, the Committee should give- (1) The number of County Government officers employed on contract and those on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) basis. (2) Audit the on-boarding process on each basis, stating the particulars including the tenure of contracts signed. (3) Give reasons why workers on long-serving contract terms which have been on renewable basis have not been absorbed into permanent and pensionable (P&P) terms, noting that the long contract basis goes against the Employment Act 2007. (4) Explain the criteria used in determining absorption into P&P basis, leaving behind experienced staff who have been working on renewable contracts in the county Government for over five years. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir."}
