The study’s recommendations were approved by the Cabinet. The monthly hardship allowance for moderate hardship areas has been raised to Kshs5,000 per month, while that for extreme hardship areas has been raised to Kshs10,000 per month. This applies to both civil servants and teachers, with effect from 1st July, 2010, irrespective of one’s status."}
