(a) The jigger infestation prevalence in the country ranges from 1.6 per cent to 4 per cent, according to information from a rapid assessment study carried out recently. The main predisposing factors for jigger infestation are:- (i) poor housing conditions as the jigger flee is raised mostly in a very dusty environment; (ii) poor personal hygiene practices; and, (iii) high poverty levels."}
