I congratulate the petitioner who has brought that Petition to the Senate. When these people are being disenfranchised, it is a human right issue where they must be compensated. The role of National Land Commission (NLC) under Article 67 (2)(e) of the Constitution, it says- “To initiate investigations, on its own initiative or on a complaint, into present or historical land injustices, and recommend appropriate redress.” Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the National Land Commission (NLC) is supposed to assist. I believe the Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights is that these people have been disfranchised for long. You are aware Maumau were compensated at some point. There was a case that we were listening to at London Inns in the United States of America (USA)."}
