I would like to start by supporting this Motion. I also want to declare that I am a member of the Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations. I also declare that I was part of the team that went to assess the status of Eldoret and confirmed that it actually deserves to be a city. I have a very long history with Eldoret starting from the 1970s. I used to stay in Eldoret as a trader. I was in the coffee trading business. We used to get coffee from Uganda and sell it to the Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (KPCU). Some people were calling it “ magendo, ” but for us, it was very good business.
