First, I wish to express and acknowledge my appreciation to the hon. Members of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing with whom we have worked harmoniously and effectively. I thank them for their contribution and the interest they have shown in our work at the Ministry of Public Works. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Ministryâs vision is to be the leading institution in the construction and maintenance of Government buildings and other public works in this country. The Ministryâs mandate is clearly outlined in the Presidential Circular No.1 of last year. The mandate include formulation of public works policy; public works planning, development and maintenance of Government buildings; maintenance of inventory of Government property; provision of mechanical and electrical services; co-ordination of procurement of common user items for Ministries, departments and Government agencies; to conduct research on building materials and building"}
