At the outset, I would like to state that the information which is available indicates that 26 people lost their lives in the larger Kirinyaga District during the month of April and May, 2009. Following a crackdown on Mungiki criminal gangs in Nairobi and Murangâa in the late 2007, the gang members relocated to Kirinyaga and started to levy illegal taxes"}
