Under Article 229 of the Constitution, the OAG is very critical in auditing. I am the biggest champion of transparency agencies in the country. However, we should not allow the OAG to sensationalise a critical Government programme. The media also has been part of this wider scheme of sensational stories yet, under Article 22(8) of the Constitution, Parliament has a role. We need to consider these reports. It does not mean that when the OAG has brought a report on the issue of SHA, The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate."}
