Temporary Chairlady, I beg to move: That, Clause 10 of the Bill be amended— (a) in by paragraph (a) by inserting the word “senior” immediately after the words “shall be a”; (b) by deleting paragraph (b). This clause seeks to provide for a deputy Auditor-General without considering the existing structure in the Office of the Auditor-General, which already has seven deputies. The position of Senior Deputy Auditor-General, that currently obtains in the Act, is, therefore, practicable. Given the existing structures within the Office of the Auditor-General, it is important that these amendments align with those structures so that we do not pass a law here that could jeopardise the current arrangement."}
