Coming from the insurance industry, I know the number of cases that are pending before the courts. If we were to encourage people to go through the arbitration way, then a lot of cases would be finalized; many people would get their awards and courts would be left to deal with other matters. The other point is when we did the arbitration exams in the 1980s; the people who conducted them came from the United Kingdom. But with the amendments that are being proposed here and with the intention of making Kenya a real arbitration centre, then we can only strengthen our institutes of arbitration here, so that other countries, even our neighbors, can learn from us"}
