City councils, municipal and county councils play a very important role in this country. I know for sure that many of the Members of Parliament from the Coast Province, especially from Mombasa, climbed to this stage through council activities. I was a councillor in 2002, but unfortunately, I was deregistered after only four months because I was against the policy of the regime of the time."}
