(a) I am aware that since Kima-Emusutswi Road (D264) was tarmacked, it has not received periodic maintenance. (b) I am further aware that Majengo-Luanda Road (C38) is currently in a condition that cannot provide a satisfactory level of service. (c) My Ministry is taking the following urgent steps to ensure that these roads are repaired and maintained on a regular basis. (i) The rehabilitation of the Majengo-Luanda Road (C38) has been included under the project for the completion of outstanding works on Kisumu-Yala Road, which is classified as (B1) and Kshs8 million has been allocated for the project in the Road Maintenance Levy Fund Budget for the Financial Year 2008/2009. (ii) With regard to the Kima-Emusutswi, Road (D264), an amount of Kshs1,100,000 has been allocated in the Road Maintenance Budget for the Financial Year 2008/2009 for holding maintenance.
