(a) I am aware that processed tea valued at Kshs650 million was shipped in March, 2006 to an overseas buyer without opening letters of credit or receiving cash. (b) I am aware that one of the ten buyers, Lohit International has refused to pay the KTDA Kshs244,974,346.84; hence, there is a risk that farmers will lose the same amount. (c) In order to protect the farmers' interests, I have directed the KTDA to use every available channel, including legal action, against the buyers to recover the same amount."}
