As a former Director of Aerodromes, I am not aware of any other international airport that closes on national days. For example, I do not think the British Air Force uses the airspace around Heathrow Airport, just because they have the Queen's birthday. Could the Assistant Minister consider the dangers involved? We lost a pilot in 1974 as a result of that. Could the Assistant Minister consider the complaints by the airlines and reschedule those ceremonies? We do not have to salute the President mid-air.
