Let us hope that the coming Parliament will vet office technocrats who will move things faster. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank hon. Marende for the good job he has done in heading the institution of Parliament together with the panel of Speakers, because they have done a very good job. Hon. Marende, I can say that I take credit for campaigning for him seriously. I was in the team that really campaigned seriously for him to come in as the Speaker. I can even say that at one point during the voting, I was approached with Kshs5 million as a bribe to vote for the other side, but I said no amount of money would buy me to avoid electing hon. Marende. I think he has saved this country from collapsing through various decisions that he has made. I must also thank the parliamentary staff from the sweeper, cleaner, catering staff, library staff, research staff and all the way to the Clerk’s office. They have been very supportive."}
