One of the major issues the teachers raised with me is to have a boarding facility in both primary and secondary schools. Although they did not talk specifically for the girl-child, they see sense in having a boarding facility where the girl-child can attend to avoid performing household chores that she is assigned by the family. This should not really happen because that is not how the boy-child is treated. Therefore, I believe that this Motion is timely and is necessary for the ASAL areas. We call upon the Government – sometimes before this House we say we request or urge the House to do something. However, I believe that we demand in this case that the girl-child is entitled to equal rights before the law within the ASAL areas"}
