Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. I understand that this Bill is constitutionally required and, therefore, needs to be done either way but in its current state, I find a lot of difficulties supporting it. I will therefore be contributing in opposing it. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the media or the Fourth Estate as we know it is really a key player in any democracy. Protecting freedom of the media, freedom of the Press, freedom of speech and ideas is a pertinent role of this House. The media is a social actor. The media allows citizens to communicate with each other. It allows us as leaders to communicate with those we lead. The media can also be a very effective watchdog for any Government.
