Members, I have a short Communication regarding the deployment of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to South Sudan. I have received a letter from the Secretary of the National Security Council dated 8th April, 2014, requesting the approval of the National Assembly for deployment of troops to South Sudan for peace-keeping operations, pursuant to Article 240(8)(a) of the Constitution and Section 18(c) and 36(2)(a) of the KDF Act, 2012. Due to the urgency of this matter, I direct that this Motion appears on the Order Paper for this afternoon for consideration and approval."}
