Under Section 21 of the Universities Act, No.42 of 2012, a chartered university like USIU is a body corporate and has authority to employ staff as provided for in its charter. Under Part VIII of the USIU Charter the post of vice-chancellor is provided for. The procedure for appointing the vice-chancellor in the institution is provided for under Section 18(1) of their charter."}
