The national Government has also supplied information, education and communication materials to the affected counties. The county governments have done the following: they formed county and sub- county coordination committees that are meeting daily; they strengthened surveillance in all health facilities and within the communities; they identified and equipped cholera treatment centres in the most of the affected areas; trained health workers on how to manage affected patients; educated the communities on cholera and mobilised resources from Government departments and stakeholders in responding to the outbreak. Finally about measures the Government is taking to prevent recurrence: The Government has put in place multi-sectorial cholera prevention and control plan 2011- 2016. The Government will ensure that adequate resources are mobilised to implement the plan in all affected and other high risk counties. The plan mainly focusses on a multi- sectorial approach with special focus on strong coordination, surveillance, case management, community education and awareness, good sanitation, hygiene and access to safe drinking water.
