The law is very clear that the Auditor-General is an independent office. Even as we take care of the national security interest, it is also important that we ensure that the independence of the Auditor- General is not compromised. If you look at the current Clause 40, it says that the Auditor-General needs to seek authority from another body before he looks at all the issues of national security. I think this amendment is quite important and is in line with the Constitution."}
