Temporary Deputy Chairman, I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 44 of the Bill be amended— (a) in sub-clause (l)− (i) by deleting paragraph (l) and substituting therefor the following new paragraph− “(l) firearms or other electrical shock devices for the purpose of fishing, including stunning, disabling or killing fish, or in any way rendering fish to be caught more easily”; (ii) in paragraph (m) by deleting the words “in a fisheries management plan” and substituting therefor the words “by regulations established under this part”; (b) in sub-clause (7) by inserting the following words after the words “or to both”− “in respect of industrial fishing, and to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to both in respect of artisanal fishing”; and (c) by deleting sub-clause (8). This is simply to protect the special species of fish such as omena ."}
