I will reiterate, at the risk of repeating myself, that it is not the Speaker’s function to whip Senators to come and vote. That should be very well ingrained in every Senator’s mind because that is the procedure. We have Whips in the House and it is their duty and role to whip Members to come and vote. If you have received any message from the Speaker’s Office, it is courtesy and not a practice for this House. I do not think it has happened."
