What concerns us, however, is the arm-twisting of foreign governments to support their banks because some of the funds which were guaranteed were from a bank in Austria which eventually sought its Governmentâs assistance. When Kenya went to the Paris Club in 2000 to request for assistance with regard to rescheduling of its loans, the Austrian Government put a caveat forcing the Government of Kenya to accept to repay the debt. I see this arm-twisting from our development partners as being completely unacceptable."}
