Temporary Deputy Chairman, this is the second amendment that I would like to ask the Members to consider. I beg to move:- THAT, Clause 9 of the Bill be amended- (b) by deleting sub-clause (4) and substituting therefor the following new sub- clause— “(4) The nomination of board members shall take into account the principles of equality, non-discrimination, regional balance and in so doing shall ensure that not more than two-thirds of the members of the Board shall be of the same gender.” This reflects the constitutional principles that we have been talking about. Having this clause as I propose, would help to make sure that this board represents the face of Kenya and the principles of our Constitution. The last two parts of the amendment are in sub-clauses (5) and (6)."}
