I want to take this opportunity to make a general statement. The essence of all the amendments I have seen – and I have not talked on these amendments from the beginning – is to move powers away from the NLC to the national Government. What we are seeing in this House is actually a vehement opposition from one part of the country whereas we are treating this as merely a legislative process where “Ayes” or “Nays” will have it. I want this House to realise that when a whole block of people have an issue, we are dealing with a political problem. I want the House to note that the passage of this Bill in the way we are going, we will see its political ramifications later. I would have proposed, time permitting, that there would be need to get our colleagues from the Coast – you do not have to take my advice; I just want to go on the HANSARD – and we give them more time to have all their issues addressed. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I have made my point."}
