We discussed this matter at the Mediation Committee and we all resolved that the proposal that had been made by the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources was the best because this is the standard proposal in all Bills, which basically specify the criteria a person has to meet in order to be appointed to a board. Among the criteria that is set out is, for example, a person shall not be appointed to the board if he has been convicted of a criminal offence or imprisoned for a term not exceeding six months, is a member of a governing body of a political party, has previously been removed from public office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution or any other written law, is an un-discharged bankrupt and violates the Constitution and/or any other written law."}
