First of all, as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Equal Opportunities, I have a particular responsibility to speak for the women of this country. On this particular one, it is not easy for the House to discuss a certain nominee based on the name when there is no evidence that this nominee comes from a certain region. There are very many Kenyans who are born in every part of this country. If my son is born in Kisii, he has a national identity card that reflects the home district. There is no possibility for us to use the Floor of the House to do elimination. Dr. Florence Omosa is a qualified Kenyan and she was interviewed and nominated. She is a woman, so let us not use the Floor of the House to deny Kenyan women an opportunity to serve in this Commission. I beg to oppose."}
