I want to, first of all, congratulate my colleague, Sen. Kihika, for a well thought out Motion. In support of the Motion, it should never be lost on any one of us that Kenya is the host nation for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); a distinction bestowed on us because the world looks at us, as a people, and a country, that is able to take care of her own environment. We all know the politics around the position of UNEP in Nairobi. The battle is on from the countries in the west to relocate the UNEP headquarters from Nairobi. The more we destroy our environment through improper disposal of waste, the more ammunition we give to people who argue that we are not fit to host UNEP. Secondly, I would urge that it may be important that once this Motion is tabled and the details are available to us, we expand the scope of this Motion beyond waste"}
