I think this will be going against the spirit of the Constitution. Parliament is vetting all public officers and this is one of them. This is a key institution. I do not think that Parliament will be serving the public by leaving the appointment to be done by the Board and the matter ends there. I will give the example of the Public Procurement and Oversight Authority. They did not have a CEO for more than three years. It is only because of the fear that we would raise the matter in this House and somebody had to appear before a Committee that they had to rush through it. So, we do not want a repeat of that. We want to be sure that even part of the vetting is to make sure that, that is done in time and the position is filled expeditiously. I persuade Members of Parliament that there is merit in this. Any Committee of Parliament is supposed to be credible. So, we should not cast aspersions on a Committee of Parliament that is supposed to be doing its job properly. Therefore, I would like to go by the amendment as it stands."}
