The ACP-EU partnership agreement was signed on 23rd June 2000 in Cotonou, Benin. This, therefore, become the Cotonou agreement, hence the name ACP-EU partnership agreement or the Cotonou Agreement. The agreement was for a period of 20 years and it is ending in February, 2020. The agreement covers over 100 countries. The ACP has 78-member countries and the EU has 28 member countries. This totals to 106 countries with a total population of 1.5 billion people. This enables the EU relationship with the ACP partners to be rejuvenated."}
