(2) A member of the Kenya Defence Forces may, subject to subsection (3), be admitted to a mental health unit under subsection (1) for an initial period not exceeding fourteen days from the date of admission. (3) A person in charge may extend the period of admission after— (a) carrying out or causing to be carried out a review of the status of mental health of the member of the Kenya Defence Forces; and (b) seeking the recommendation of two medical practitioners, one of whom shall be a psychiatrist, and the medical officer of the Kenya Defence Forces for the extended admission of the patient. (4) A member of the Kenya Defence Forces admitted to a mental health unit under subsection (1) may be discharged from that hospital if two medical practitioners, one of whom shall be psychiatrist, by a letter to the person in charge certifies that—"}
