This has been a thorny issue because our people were maimed, killed and agricultural products destroyed and no compensation was paid. I note that the Minister is requesting for Kshs200 million from Kshs40 million that was previously allocated. I think this is a reasonable request which the House should approve. As a matter of fact, I would urge that in future, this amount be increased tremendously in order to enable the Ministry pay-up all the pending compensation claims that have been there for many years. I think we can only conserve effectively if we made our people know that wildlife is of use to them and that whenever conflict arises, people are compensated."}
