I would like the Minister to clarify the following:- (i) why the Government registered and licensed Butali Sugar Company in the first place, only to close it when it was about start milling; (ii) what law allows similar factories in the neighbouring Nyanza Province to operate under similar circumstances, and why those factories are not closed; and, (iii) what special interests this Government has in a dispute between the proprietors of two competing firms in Kakamega North District, namely, Butali Sugar Company and West Kenya Sugar Company."}
