Temporary Speaker, I beg to give notice of the following Motion: THAT, pursuant to Standing Order 33 (1), I rise to seek leave for adjournment of the House to discuss a definite matter of urgent national importance regarding the surge in road accidents in the country. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) recently released a Report providing statistical data on the current road safety situation in the country. According to the Report, 7,198 Kenyans have been involved in road accidents within the last three months of 2024, making a significant rise of accidents compared to the same period last year. It is disheartening that at least 1,108 lives were tragically lost in the accidents. These statistics highlight the troubling state of road safety in the country, which require urgent intervention. While acknowledging efforts by the Ministry of Transport in the last few days, much more needs to be done, including full implementation of traffic laws and policies to ensure road safety. Hon. Temporary Speaker, it is against this background that I seek leave for the adjournment of the House to discuss this matter of great national concern with a view of exploring possible and lasting solutions. Thank you."},{"id":1412372,"url":"http://info.mzalendo.com/api/v0.1/hansard/entries/1412372/?format=json","text_counter":98,"type":"speech","speaker_name":"Hon.
