Obara’s statement. We agreed that we needed to do something in Sondu. Once we visit the ground and see the need for an Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), we will make the necessary recommendations. On Hon. Nabulindo’s concerns, I speak here on behalf of the Inspector General (IG) of the Police. The operational command of the IG is not subject to my direction in directing them to target a particular person. The main thing is to target the criminals, and the people of Kenya have expected us to sort out the issue of Matungu. That place had become ungovernable even during funerals, becoming a monument of shame. If the people arrested are known to you or are family members or supporters, there is no issue as long as they are not involved in crime. They will not be charged. If they are involved, they will all be rounded up and charged, notwithstanding that they are your family members or supporters. I thank the Member of Parliament for his positive approach to this issue because he appreciates the efforts to deal with robbers and the gangs operating and roaming across the county. I have no doubt that the next time I visit Matungu, I will be going to a peaceful meeting The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
