    "content": "Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am also concerned with the plight of teachers. I was a teacher. I was a victim of what happened in 1997 when the then President agreed to pay teachers that time. Those teachers who retired in 1997 have not been paid although there is a court order. We need to find out what exactly is happening. In my statement, I said that the Ministry has so far held a series of consultative meetings with the Cabinet Secretaries of various Ministries. Consultations are still going on and it is my hope that one of these days, we will get a solution. It is the desire of every parent in this country and I am one of them and I believe all of you are, to see our children back in schools. When we talk about lengthy deliberations, we need to balance the act. Where we think there is harmonization, so be it. Where we think maybe we can settle on 50 per cent or less, the way some of you said in the debate yesterday, we will consider in our deliberations.
