    "content": "(6) Whether the Government is considering waving the cost of handling storage and other charges levied on fertilizers so as to ease the financial burden of farmers. The response is that even if the levies are waived, it will only amount to 3 per cent because it will be the Railway Levy and IDF charge. This cannot make any significant changes in the cost of fertilizer. However, the Ministry is in discussion with the national Treasury to see whether 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on fertilizer could be waived because this would substantially reduce the cost of fertilizer to farmers. I am sorry I was not able to give a copy of this response to Sen. (Prof.) Lesan because I got it yesterday. I will take the liberty to share a copy with him if he needs it."
