"content": "When I look at the definition of senior citizens at 65 years, which my father is just about to reach, I think of him being detached from us and put in a home. At whatever state that he would be, I would tend to rethink about it. It has nothing to do with affluence, whether you can take care of your family member or not, but it is about the attachment that we, as Africans, have for our relatives whichever state they are in. It is something that we pride ourselves in. When we look at the culture of the Western nations, they have provisions of having homes, where at a very early age, a child goes away and has no link with the parents. It is nothing to be desired. It is nothing we, as a country, or a people who value togetherness and being with our families, would want to adopt."
