Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move: THAT, the Bill be amended in Clause 13 by inserting the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph (i)— “(j) formulate, implement and oversee programmes to raise awareness on law of succession and trusteeship”. The justification of this is that this is an additional duty which will be laid on the Public Trustee to conduct civic education on matters relating to the law of succession and trusteeship. Kenyans under our Constitution are entitled to the right to information. The Department of Public Trustees should educate Kenyans. Most Kenyans are not aware of this law so we want to task the Public Trustee to spend time and resources to educate Kenyans on the relevant laws and procedures to be followed. This will enable Kenyans to benefit from this law."
