"content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker. This is a very serious matter. It is a constitutional requirement. Giving money to any political party is not doing them a favour. The only political parties that qualify to get money are the Jubilee Party and the Orange Democratic Movement. This matter should be given the seriousness it requires. Since 2010, that constitutional provision has not been implemented. It is the same as the Equalisation Fund. Our party is very strong and is the biggest party in the country. We will not get the advantage of having the Communist Party of China sending some money to JP. On our side, we have no money. The money we are using to run our party is the money that we collect from our Members of Parliament and the public through donations and membership fees. The politics of this country can only be governed through political parties. We must have strong political parties to sanitise our politics. Those issues of small briefcase parties should end. I suggest that the Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee takes this matter much more seriously. Now he feels he is in a bigger party which has formed the Government. But a time will come when JP will not form the Government and I might be the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. I will not behave the way he is doing. I will give JP more money so that they can remain relevant and become…Even now, I am told they are broke. They have sent a letter to the Communist Party of China to send them some money but it has refused."
